Social media apps go offline for millions of users

The social media conglomerate said in a statement today after being hit with a disruption resulting in its longest outage in history that it was working flat out to bring the service back online.

This comes after the explosive revelation by a whistleblower a former Facebook employee Frances Haugen told CBS television “60 Minutes” that the corporation preferred profits over clamping down on misinformation and hate.

Tech experts believe it had to do with the routing configurations either caused by error or sabotage which left users unable to access the sites because of the Domain Network Service not sending their requests to the correct domain. An outside hack was out of the question as it will involve a new technique or a massive team working between group of hackers.

The outage has also resulting in its stock losing 5% and sending shockwaves through Wall Street.
