Silk Belt Road Initiative goods train departs for Moscow

The first China-Europe freight train from Quanzhou departed Tuesday headed for Moscow with 445 tonnes of export.

The freight train left China’s Fujian Province an important starting point of the Silk Belt Road Initiative(BRI). the train is scheduled to arrive in Moscow in 20 days compared to 25 days maritime shipping. Chen Hanhe, chairman of Mega Soft (China) Co., Ltd, a hygienic product manufacturer said ; “The new train service will significantly lower our transport costs.”

Quanzhou an export hub raked in 31.5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021, according to Zhang Xiaohong, director of Quanzhou’s bureau of commerce. “The new train service will add momentum to the BRI. Quanzhou’s trade volume with countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road surpassed 100 billion yuan last year.” He said.

The New Silk Road is also called the Belt and Road Initiative. It links countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa together. The plan was initiated by Xi Jinping, President of China. The New Silk Road focuses on investment for railway, highway and port construction.
