Chairman, son and three others gunned down in Abuja

The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Abuja chapter Alhaji Aliyu Adamu has been murdered by bandits in the federal capital Abuja. This was disclosed in a press briefing held by the national secretary of MACBAN Alhaji Baba Ngelzarma on Sunday in Abuja.

He explained that Adamu and four others were assassinated by bandits at Dako hamlet near Dobi Village in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He said Adamu was killed with his son and three others after demand for a $24 million -N100 million in local currency-ransom was refused.

“Adamu was said to have been trailed by the bandits from Izom Cattle Market in Niger State. Four other people in the same vehicle with him were kidnapped and the bandits are asking for N100 million as ransom.” he said.

Ngelzarma also said that the increasing insecurity in the country was threatening the livestock industry especially in Abuja and Niger State as a result of bandits and cattle rustlers.

“MACBAN views the increasing cases of activities of bandits in Niger and now the FCT as a great threat to the thriving livestock industry in the two states. MACBAN therefore calls on the security agencies to take action against the ever increasing activities of bandits.” He added.
