Fulani group pays N100 million for former president
Goodluck Jonathan now in APC – President Buhari’s media aide
Spokesman for the Presidency Nigeria, Bashir Ahmad on Monday night, confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is now a member of the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC) after reports emerged that a Miyetti Allah Fulani group purchased the N100 million APC presidential nomination form on Jonathan’s behalf.
Ahmad, who is Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on the New Media posted on Twitter. “So Goodluck Jonathan has dumped the opposition PDP and now member of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
“No one will give out N100 million to buy Presidential forms from a party he’s not a member of. The primary criterium for parties to sell their forms to you is that you must first be a registered member”, Ahmad said in a telephone chat to newsmen in Abuja.
Earlier Monday, the spokesman for the Miyetti Allah Fulani group Ibrahim Abdullahi said the former president had big plans for them and they want him back in power so as to continue the good works.
“We picked the form in order to beat the APC deadline, we do not mind if the former president accepts them or not.” The spokesman said. He also confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan was a fully paid up member of the APC.
Calling on all patriotic Nigerians he continued. “Goodluck Jonathan is the best president for Nigeria and I hope with this purchase of forms today, I call on all the aspirants if they are really patriotic, if they want Nigeria’s unity, if they want sense of belonging, if they want a president for all, if they want a president that has come out to say his ambition does not worth the blood of any Nigerian no matter how lowly or highly placed such Nigerian is and he lived to that word when the chips were down, I think it is time for Nigerians to tell that man to come back and lead us.”
Efforts to get a reaction to all these breaking developments from the former president GoodLuck Jonathan has so far proved abortive.
