APC Mocks Rushdie
Members of Nigeria’s ruling party the All Progressives Congress praise Rushdie’s stabbing
Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have taken to social media to praise the stabbing of the Satanic Verses author Salman Rushdie.

Rushdie was stabbed in the neck and abdomen Friday by a man who rushed the stage as the author was about to give a lecture in western New York.
Many of the comments on the two BBC Hausa posts on Facebook about the stabbing of the controversial author came from the APC, with many wishing him dead.
Fadila Haliyu from Kano who is verified on Facebook commented in Hausa. “Is he dead or not? And Hadi the wife of God has taken him out and may God bless him.” She wrote praising the would be killer.

Another female Muslim from Kaduna an APC and bandit stronghold. “Since 1989 Salman Rushdie published this cursed book since God left him with health, but what some people don’t understand is that since then he lives a life of misery because wherever he goes he is scared, so talal God has given him long life. Thirty years ago, today he started packing the bitter he poured, may God continue to protect the son of Abdullahi (S.A.W)”. Saleena A Ibrahim El-kanawy wrote.

“We are happy with this attack on cursed la anatallah alai, and whoever attacked him may Allah reward him with paradise.” Ummu Salman Sallom from Plateau State said in his comment.
Mannir Auwal Maikusa from Kano also vented his anger at Rushdie asking the BBC whether the writer was dead. “Why is it that BBC are worried about this cursed people, let him tell us when he dies and we will follow him with black prayers.”

On Sunday, Rushdie’s agent Andrew Wylie announced. “His condition is headed in the right direction but his recovery would be long.”

“Though his life changing injuries are severe, his usual feisty & defiant sense of humour remains intact,” Rushdie’s son Zafar Rushdie said in a Sunday statement that stressed the author remained in critical condition.
The family statement also expressed gratitude for the “audience members who bravely leapt to his defence,” as well as police, doctors and “the outpouring of love and support.”
Rusdie’s attacker a suspected Iranian agent Hadi Matar, 24, of Fairview, New Jersey, pleaded not guilty Saturday to attempted murder and assault charges in what a prosecutor called “a targeted, unprovoked, preplanned attack”.
