The Russian Defence Ministry in its daily press briefing Saturday said 20 US Green Berets were killed in a Russian Aerospace Forces airstrike near Andreevka in Kharkov region. The air strikes also struck combat positions of Kraken nationalist formations which eliminated over 70 militants.
Russia airstrikes near Velikomikhailovka in Dnepropetrovsk Region completely destroyed a battalion of 110th Territorial Defence Brigade of the Afmed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), with losses of at least 200 nationalists killed and over 150 wounded. Also destroyed was a tank battalion of 28th Mechanized Brigade near Kiselevka, Nikolaev Region, and 212th Rifle Battalion of AFU near Apostolovo, Dnepropetrovsk Region, with the AFU suffering over 200 casualties.
Kalibr missiles strikes destroyed up to 130 fighters and 8 units of special vehicles in the area of AFU’s manpower and military equipment of 27th Battalion of 127th Territorial Defence Brigade concentration in northern Kharkov.
Elsewhere Russian Army aviation helicopter gunships destroyed over 200 personnel, two tanks and 7 special vehicles of 3rd and 12th battalions of 25th Airborne Brigade of AFU near Zvanovka and Paraskovievka in Donetsk People’s Republic. Russian Pantsir 2 air defence systems shot down 6 unmanned aerial vehicles in the Luhansk and Donetsk republics as well as 3 rockets of Olkha multiple-launch rocket system have been shot down in the air near Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in Kherson Region and Melitopol in Zaporozhye Region.
As of August 20, 267 Ukrainian airplanes and 148 helicopters, 1,776 unmanned aerial vehicles, 367 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,354 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 809 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,320 field artillery and mortars, as well as 4,969 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.
“Many people in Ukraine have not accepted the policy of the Kiev authorities to rehabilitate Nazism and incite hatred towards everything connected with Russia,“ said Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, speaking at a plenary session of the First International Anti-Fascist Congress, Saturday. held on the sidelines of the Russian Army Games 2022 in which 35 countries are participating.
“Official Kiev, has openly declared itself heir and successor to the cause of the bloody Ukrainian nationalists. The Verkhovna Rada has proclaimed fighters of Ukrainian Insurgent Army as fighters for national independence. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, everything was done in Washington to turn Ukraine into the antipode of Russia. The promotion of legislation banning the Russian language, Russian media, Russian culture – everything related to our country – was encouraged” he pointed out to the delegates. The Defence Minister said Russia had no choice. “For eight years, the Kiev regime has committed egregious crimes against citizens of DPR and LPR. On Friday, it became apparent that Russia was in a fight with the United States with Ukrainian troops as proxies advised by US Green Berets. President Joe Biden has directed the drawdown of up to $775 million in defence articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training to the AFU. The Pentagon provided details that the military aid package for Ukraine would include munitions for HIMARS (the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), 16 105mm howitzers (with 36,000 artillery rounds), 15 ScanEagle spy drones, HARM high-speed anti-radiation missiles, anti-rocket systems and munitions, and vehicles for mine clearing.
