Russia resists the global paranoia Zimbabwe defence minister says

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Defense, Security and Veterans Affairs, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, told the international inter-party conference of the United Russia party entitled Crucial Issues of International Security in the Conditions of Geopolitical Instability on Tuesday that Russia is an indispensable balancer of the world, for it resists western schizophrenia based on the superiority of some and shaming of others.

“Today, Russia is an indispensable balancer of the world, which resists the global paranoia based on the dominance of some and the humiliation of others,” she said.

Muchinguri-Kashiri also added that Zimbabwe supported Russia’s approach to the special military operation and the protection of the Slavic population.

“We understand and agree that people [in Donbass] freely and openly voted for their future in Russia,” she said.

The purpose of her visit to Russia was to deepen ties between Moscow and Harare.

“Zimbabwe is working with Russia to facilitate the countries’ visa regime and deepen economic cooperation,” Kashiri added.

The minister emphasized the importance of Russian-Zimbabwean bilateral relations, including in the field of tourism.

Muchinguri also said that Harare was considering the possibility of further expanding agreements and memorandums to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and deepen economic, agricultural and educational ties.

Zimbabwe has strong political and economic relations with Russia, according to Muchinguri. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has repeatedly visited Moscow, the minister added.

On October 9, the speaker of the Zimbabwean National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, told Sputnik that Zimbabwe was planning to launch direct flights with Russia after a thorough bilateral review by the tourism and transport ministries.
