Tinubu’s Mysterious Logo
The logo of the Nigeria’s ruling party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has set tongues wagging with Akowe delving into the symbolism of the logo
A few weeks to a crucial and existential election in Nigeria, the electorate is wondering what the Tinubu logo actually means with many claims of a mystical connection and membership of a New Age cult.
A Nigerian Twitter influencer @firstladyship called on followers to spread pictures of Bola Tinubu and the ouroboros symbol on social media. “Spread this massively on WhatsApp. Show it to all our mommies & daddies. You’ll be doing them a huge favor today.” She tweeted alleging that the ruling All Progressive Congress presidential candidate was linked to evil occult forces.

“This is an occultic sign. Members are brutal. They love money and they can kill for power.” The caption above the ouroboros symbol read.
The earliest known ouroboros motif dates from 1300 BC in the tomb of the boy king Pharaoh Tutankhamen The text concerns the actions of the sun god Ra and his union with the god of the dead Osiris in the underworld. The ouroboros is depicted twice on the figure: holding their tails in their mouths, one encircling the head and upper chest, the other surrounding the feet of a large figure, The whole divine figure represents the beginning and the end of time.

The ouroboros appears elsewhere in Egyptian sources, where it represents the formless disorder that surrounds the orderly world and is involved in that world’s periodic renewal. It persisted into Greek and Roman times and appears on magical talismans and other magical emblems. Latin commentators noted that the image of a snake biting its tail symbolises that nature is cyclical.

Also known as the infinity symbol, It was adopted as a symbol in Gnosticism and Hermeticism and most notably in alchemy. The snake symbol was linked with the legendary opus of the alchemists, the philosopher stone. The philosopher stone was a mystic chemical substance that could turn objects into gold or silver. Also known as an elixir of life used for rejuvenation and immortality. It also part of the logo of the Theosophical society.
The ouroboros was changed to an infinity symbol by John Wallis an English mathematician in 1655, he didn’t give reasons for the adoption and it began to be used in mathematics more often to represent a potential infinity.

The infinity symbol is used in all the sciences, physics, even in html coding. Magicians claim that the infinity symbol can be used by initiates to regularly tap into rejuvenating and other magical forces, healing from inside out, protection gain and the supernatural ability to travel to the Realms. The infinity symbol appears on several cards of the Rider–Waite tarot deck.

In Christianity, the ouroboros serpent is symbolised by Satan. In the Book of Genesis, shortly after Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the garden, God curses the serpent who tricked them and foretells his ultimate destruction.

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. (Genesis 3:15) Here, the reference is to the Virgin Mary the Mother of Jesus. With the end of paganism and the rise of Christianity, Jesus Christ is symbolically depicted as the Alpha and Omega (A & Ω) which is the beginning and the end (of the time). However, as God and time is infinite, the letter Omega (ω) became the infinity symbol, to denote the continuity beyond the End (∞). That is why there is this response on a Whatsapp chat.
“Mummy good evening.”
“Please send to All Saints group oh.”
“We are not ignorant of the devices of the devil. 2 Cor 2:11.” Mummy replied.
The mysterious logo on Tinubu’s hat is a device of the devil.
