Nigeria’s ruling party presidential candidate Bola Tinubu blames the Buhari administration for devaluing the national currency

At a presidential campaign stop in Calabar the capital of Nigerian south east state of Cross River, Tuesday, Bola Tinubu the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressive Congress in the 2023 general elections blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for devaluing the Naira the national currency.

“They moved the exchange rate from N200 to N800.” He told the crowd at the Calabar stadium referring to the exchange rate where a dollar sells for N800 which has led to soaring inflation and the persistent fuel crisis.

The “they” Tinubu was referring to. President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

“If they had repaired it..If they had arrested it…We wouldn’t be here today.” He stressed blaming the Buhari administration for the currency exchange crisis.

The APC presidential candidate rambled on. “They don’t know how to think…They don’t know the way….They don’t know how to do…we will be greater….”

In company of his running mate Kashim Shettima and other party stakeholders, the APC Tinubu thanked supporters who waited for him patiently since early hours until around 5.30pm when his convoy entered the rally venue.

He said: “We will turn the water surrounding the Atlantic of Cross River State to be better than Florida.”

“Money will come in, this state will become wonders of tourism in Nigeria. We are promise keepers.”

“We mean what we say. When we took over in Lagos, we said what we’ll do in Lagos, and we did it. Today, Lagos is exceptionally rich and functional”

He promised as usual to create prosperity, jobs and create a better economy for the country railing at the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for mismanaging the economy for 16 years.

“They mismanaged the nation’s economy and privatised assets of the country to themselves and their cronies.”

“He is here campaigning to fix all the problems when his party is to blame for eight years of continuous poverty. Who is he deceiving?” A spectator noted.

His host Ben Ayade the APC state governor promised to deliver all the polling units (PU) to the ruling party.
