Abuja Planning Interim Government
Nigeria’s All Progressive Congress party presidential candidate turns conspiracy theorist alleging Federal Government was planning to install an interim government
Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu the presidential candidate for the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) has allegedly claimed that the Federal Government was planning to impose an interim government after cancelling the February 25 elections due to break down of law and order.
Tinubu made the allegations during his campaign stop in Ado Ekiti the capital of Ekiti state in south western Nigeria, Friday. His vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima, was absent from the campaign train in Ekiti on Friday. Tinubu who spent less than one hour at the campaign venue did not comment on Shettima’s situation.
“They want to provoke you to violence, so that election will be disrupted and postponed, and they can cunningly introduce an interim government, that’s their plot. But this will backfire because we are wiser,” the former Lagos governor said. Tinubu was a two term governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007.
He called on the crowd at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion to fight the ‘destroyers.”
“Have you collected your PVCs? They want to hoard them and not give them out to you. Continue to be on their neck please. Don’t worry, those who locked up your money will also release them.” He asked the crowd referring to the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVC), the fuel crisis and exchange of old Naira notes for new ones which has further heightened dissatisfaction with his party’s platform.
Just last week, the presidential candidate who is rumoured to be over 80, alleged that Abuja was instigating the naira exchange and fuel crisis to deprive him of victory.
“Let fuel be expensive, only they know where they keep it. Keep petrol, keep the naira, we will vote and be elected. You may change the ink of naira notes. What you expect will not happen. We will win,” Tinubu told the crowd, speaking in the local Yoruba language.
Following his outburst in Ado Ekiti, a prominent political activist Deji Adeyanju asked on Twitter. “What is wrong with this man?”
Tinubu vowed to end the persistent fuel crisis once and for all if he was elected on February 25.
