Nigeria’s ruling party activist begs domestic security service to arrest opposition leaders for incitement and treasonable felony
A Nigerian activist working for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Festus Keyamo has petitioned the the State Security Service (SSS) to immediately arrest the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi and his vice Datti Baba Ahmed.
He made this know Thursday when he shared the copy he made to the SSS office in Abuja on his Twitter page. He accused the opposition figures of rejecting the conciliatory offer from his principal the “President-Elect” Bola Tinubu.
“It appears the President and Vice-Presidential Candidates of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed are not prepared to toe this conciliatory path for the sake of peace and national cohesion,” Keyamo wrote “whilst exercising their rights to pursue duly laid down constitutional means of addressing their grievances.”
Keyamo then accused Obi and Baba-Ahmed of going round media houses making inciting statements such as calling for the establishment of an interim government.
“In this regard, since the declaration of the Presidential election results, they have been hopping from one media house to the other making incendiary comments and claims about the declaration of the President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).” He lamented.
The activist who is wishing for a lucrative appointment in a Tinubu administration claimed the opposition were out to disrupt the democratic process.
“These comments and claims are made, not just within the boundaries of exercising their rights to freedom of speech and the freedom to air their grievances publicly, but they have since crossed the line to call for the outright truncation of democracy by insisting on the adoption of other processes outside the contemplation of our Constitution. In some cases, their privies have even called for the establishment of an Interim Government.” Keyamo stated.
The APC activist further stated that the Obi-Datti campaign team operate a troll farm from a popular hotel in the federal capital from which they post inciting messages on social media to scare the public.
“These conducts and utterances are a build-up to something more sinister and it is important you rein them in NOW!” Keyamo begged the officials.
He also claim in the petition, he was not working on behalf of the ruling party or Tinubu but in his capacity as a private citizen.
