DSS Plans to Arrest Obi on Behalf of Tinubu
Nigeria’s domestic spy agency plans to arrest opposition leader for civil unrest following violence provoked by thugs loyal to the “President Elect” Bola Tinubu in the coming days
Nigeria’s internal security agency the Department of State Security (DSS) have concluded plans to arrest opposition leader Peter Obi after planned clashes between the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) thugs and the opposition Labour Party(LP) supporters. Sources within the agency unhappy with the just concluded presidential election which is being litigated at the Appeal Court revealed Saturday.
On Thursday a ruling party activist Festus Keyamo had petitioned the security agency to arrest Peter Obi for attempting to provoke a constitutional crisis through violent protests.

The DSS had ignored calls for action against violence on LP supporters before and during the presidential and gubernatorial elections. Perpetrators of the violence like the APC enforcer in Lagos MC Oluomo were ignored by the authorities given credence that the electoral violence that suppressed voting was state sponsored. Few days before the gubernatorial elections MC Oluomo had warned LP voters to stay at home or else.
“We have begged them. If they don’t want to vote for us, it is not a fight. Tell them, Iya Chukwudi, if you don’t want to vote for us, sit down at home. Sit down at home.”

The Nigerian Police Force through its spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the APC enforcer whose real name is Musiliu Akinsanya was “joking”. This and other instances point to the fact that the suppression of LP voters was authorised at the highest levels of state.
The DSS on Saturday issued a statement Saturday warning that certain politicians were fomenting political unrest with their statements.

“The Department of State Service (DSS), again, alerts the public of plans to violently disrupt peace in the country. The Service hereby warns those desperate to cause a breakdown of law and order to desist from that.” The statement read. Sources say the state security service is aware that any violence will be state sponsored like what happened during the presidential and gubernatorial elections.
There are plans to allow the “President-Elect” Bola Tinubu unleash his thugs on peaceful protesters demanding that Peter Obi be given his mandate given to the people on February 25. The thugs will attack peaceful protesters and the violence will then be blamed on Peter Obi. Those to be arrested will be Labour supporters while the ruling party thugs assisted by the security agencies are labelled “defenders of democracy.”

“It would be recalled that the Service had earlier advised political players to abide by the rules of engagement as well as approach the courts for redress, if and where there are suspicions of infractions on extant electoral laws.” the statement added. Obi had presented his petition challenging the results on Monday.
“Be that as it may, the DSS will not tolerate a situation where persons and/or groups take laws into their hands and champion anarchy. Those peddling fake news, hate speech and all forms of false narratives as basis to ignite violence.” The security agency warned adding. “Or pit the people against the present or incoming administrations, at the Federal, State and Parliamentary levels, should stop forthwith. Those inciting violence have nothing to gain as doing so will not only consume them but also the innocent.”

The agency further stated that it will begin arresting those personalities responsible for any unrest.
“Therefore, the Service will continue to take necessary measures to checkmate these elements who do not wish the country well. This is to ensure that the conducive environment is provided for citizens and residents to pursue their legitimate businesses.” The statement was signed by Peter Afunanya the service spokesman.
In months prior to the the election the DSS warned the Presidency that a Tinubu administration will break up the country along ethnic and religious lines. While the Defence Intelligence Agency warned of civil unrest if the election is perceived to be rigged or manipulated in favour of a particular candidate.
