Tinubu Must Not Be Sworn In
Nigerian actor and musician Dede Mabiaku says the “president-elect” Bola Tinubu must not be sworn in because it will spark a youth uprising
In a wide ranging interview, Thursday, in Lagos the commercial capital of Nigeria, Dede Mabiaku the actor and musician reflected on the just concluded elections with ObjectTV.
Mabiaku said the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was announced as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will not be sworn in due to his dodgy past which will be exposed in court.
“The man will not be sworn in. I can tell you.” Mabiaku stated pointing out the numerous irregularities that occurred during the presidential and gubernatorial elections.
“They came, collected ballot boxes, shooting, stabbing, suppressing and oppressing.” He claimed referring to the APC thugs led by MC Oluomo. “They openly used voodoo to scare and castigate certain tribal groups. The Police and soldiers could not protect voters.”
“That was not an election but a selection. Election is when people come out to elect their leaders without any hindrance from the authorities”, asserting that there was no election but a parody. Due to the violence APC used in grabbing political power it could be likened to a military coup de’tat.
“It was a civilian coup de’tat.” He stressed.
“He must not be sworn in.” Mabiaku continue to insist saying what he had gone through over the past two years was heart breaking. “Somebody said they owned Lagos. He collects his percentage of the revenue generated from the toll gates, commercial drivers and other internal generated revenue yet there are no state of the art hospitals anywhere in Lagos.”
“But when they are sick they will happily fly to London or Paris for treatment. My 40 year old son died due to the poor healthcare system in Lagos.” He stated. The recent accident that happened in Lagos where the train ran into the bus there were no ambulances to convey patients to the Lagos government hospital which had no capacity for mass casualties. People were treated out in the open. A country that spent N335 billion in conducting an electoral skit.
When confronted with what will happen if Tinubu is sworn in without a Supreme Court judgement, Mabiaku said it will be a terrible mistake.” The youths will rise up they have more numbers than the few old men who have no shame in stealing the future of Nigeria via the ballot box. The Ancestors are working through the youths.”
“This generation is different. You saw how the youths went to collect their voter cards unlike previous generations. This generation will not allow their mandate to be stolen. INEC said there were issues with BVAS and IReV systems. So not all votes were counted.”
“The youths are highly organised as you saw during the EndSARS protests. There was sharing of resources, caring for one another and afterwards they picked up their litter. There was accountability for the funds they received unlike how the old men treat Nigeria. So you see the Ancestors are about to do something through the youths.” Mabiaku said. “If things are not rectified.”
Mabiaku, 62, known for Black November (2012), Black Gold (2011) and Inale (2010). and was the opening act for the late Afrobeat star Fela Kuti further stated that everything about Tinubu is contestable. “The ancestors are not sleeping you saw what happen to Ekerewandu in London? He was arrested for organ trafficking that is a top Nigerian politician. Everything about Tinubu is forged from his educational certificates to his work history. I am not the only what saying it. There are lots of others on record who have said the same thing. Where are his classmates?”
